To continue with the protocol established by the scientific committee (action F2), a second visit is being made to find out the number of breeding pairs present in the sphere of activity of the project, this time to coincide with chicks in the nests.

It is still early to assess the results of the census, but we can reveal that the LIFE-ZEPAURBAN project has come at the right time to help to conserve the lesser kestrel colonies in Extremadura, as everything points to the fact that in at least some of them the species is in decline.

The census will end in July, and when the data has been analysed we will be in a position to draw the first conclusions on the situation of the lesser kestrel on the network of urban ZEPAs in Extremadura.
